Geri never seems stressed or rushed and is always smiling and sharing good words with the people around her.
Geri has been working at Northwest since 1991. Geri graduated from Shoreline Community College and started her career on the 4th floor, and worked in various departments in the hospital before joining the operating room 16 years ago. Geri is always attentive and compassionate when providing patient care, ensuring that she is aware of the necessary details. Geri is always available to help other coworkers, particularly as Service Coordinator for the urology service, which she performs with high dedication. Whenever she is not in the urology service, she always checks with staff assigned in urology cases to make sure they are performing to their best level. She has a great rapport with the surgeons and her peers in the operating room. This year, Geri accepted a special deployment as a trained Peer Supporter. Geri joined this peer support program during the COVID surge- the time when staff needed the most help from their colleagues. Geri identified, intervened, and gave resources to staff who were in distress. Geri has also precepted our OR consortium RNs in various specialties. Geri never seems stressed or rushed and is always smiling and sharing good words with the people around her. Geri’s positive energy and helpfulness are exemplary. Her professionalism and compassion for her patients and bedside manner have truly impressed me, and this is what made me submit a DAISY Award nomination for her.
