Jessi was truly a gift from God during our stay at Riley and we cannot thank her enough for the care, support, and love she offered during such a dark and scary time for us.
Jessi was our nurse for multiple shifts during our stay at Riley with our 7-month-old. The medical situation we encountered was quite scary for us, but having Jessi as our nurse during multiple shifts seemed to put us at ease. Jessi was gentle, loving, and caring to our son. Also while caring for our son she was sure that my husband and I were comfortable and had everything we needed. At each check, Jessi explained everything and why it was being done, which was super helpful because being nervous and sleep-deprived parents we didn’t always remember everything the doctors said when they were in. Also if we had any questions she was sure to get answers for us if she didn’t have them.

My husband had to return to work and I was the only one with our son for a couple of days and Jessi always reminded me to take care of myself too. She always offered to work something out with her colleagues so that she could sit with our son while I ran down to get food. This put my momma heart at ease knowing someone loving and caring was with him while I stepped out for a minute.

My son seemed in pain and uncomfortable one late afternoon over the weekend and I expressed to Jessi thinking back he had not had a bowel movement in 5 days. Jessi asked me if I would be ok with a suppository and I told her yes. She walked out of the room and within minutes had messaged the doctor and got an order for a suppository and was back in the room with the suppository ready to help get my son out of pain. His mood changed drastically after the suppository and bowel movement.

My son had surgery during his stay at Riley and he was poked many times for labs. Jessi took the time to gently wipe off all the sticky residue from the bandaids, leads, and tape, she followed by giving him a sponge bath to wash all the iodine off and to just make him feel better. Jessi never made us feel silly for any questions we had and she always listened attentively. She always used a calm voice and talked cheerfully to our son when she was taking vitals, checking his IV, giving him meds, etc. Jessi was truly a gift from God during our stay at Riley and we cannot thank her enough for the care, support, and love she offered during such a dark and scary time for us. Riley truly saved our son's life and we cannot thank all of you enough! We will forever be grateful for everyone who cared for us during our stay at Riley. Thank you all so so much!
