Kinzy did amazing at advocating for her patient and communicating/comforting the upset family. Her patient was admitted at the end of her shift the night before and she had the same patient the next day. The patient and family were told that the procedure would be early in the morning but it was pushed back until the afternoon. The family voiced their frustration with Kinzy about the care they have been receiving so far. Kinzy was in constant communication with them and with IR, making sure they knew when IR was coming. A chest tube was placed in IR and when transferring to the stretcher it was dislodged and had to be replaced. Kinzy notified the family and they were very upset. She not only comforted the family, but she made sure that someone from IR came upstairs to explain to the family what had happened so the family was completely informed. I was impressed with how Kinzy handled the situation and advocated for her patient and their family. She is one of the nurses that I look up to and I hope I can be like when I become an RN.
