Amy is a fierce advocate for the nurse. Her work is focused on elevating nurses to practice at the top of their license and ensuring that the highest quality of nursing care is delivered at Mt. Ascutney.
Amy seems to have an endless supply of compassion for people that she brings with her every day. Her experiences professionally and personally shape the way she approaches patients and staff- as whole people and not their current problem or complaint. One of the things I love most is that she is both a storyteller and that she encourages the use of open-ended questions to have patients and staff also tell their stories.

Ascutney. Dedicating resources to programs that increase our local workforce, provide learning opportunities to staff, and create a healthy and safe environment demonstrates that Amy is committed to every aspect of nursing practice. She capitalizes on her voracious reading tendencies to stay on top of innovative approaches to nursing work and you can barely walk out of her office without a book or article recommendation.
***
Amy has always been more than happy to pitch in and help out, even though I’m sure she didn’t always want to. She wouldn’t ask anyone to do anything she herself wouldn’t do. She is tireless it seems. She keeps herself up on all the latest education so that if she needs to work a unit she is able, this is extremely rare in a Nurse Leader. She gets things done and has some inventive ideas. She is well respected. She has a can-do attitude and the ability to rally people.

Amy has a passion for improving the lives of those we serve, which includes our staff as well as our patients. She will roll up her sleeves and step into the role of her staff whenever it is needed even if that means taking a 12-hour shift on the floor to fill a staffing gap, changing bed linens, starting an IV, or sitting with a hospice patient so her staff can take a break. She exemplifies a truly caring and compassionate Nurse Leader, mentor, and colleague. She sets the bar high, then encourages and guides her team to reach for it.
