The hospital stay was more traumatic for me on top of the birth, but they did everything they could for us.
My son R was born and both my husband and I stayed with him for 12 days on the ward following a traumatic birth meaning both R and I needed a lot of care initially. R was also under the care of the neonatal unit. I mean it when I say none of us would have coped if it weren’t for the midwives, namely the staff listed below. When we knew Kirsty, S or D were on shift, particularly during the night - which was hard for me due to my anxiety - we were instantly relieved and reassured. All three of them gave me, R, and my husband all the time we needed both practically, clinically, and emotionally.
The hospital stay was more traumatic for me on top of the birth, but they did everything they could for us. They advocated, chased things up, listened and supported me when I cried, made sure we had all the advice we needed as first-time parents, and most importantly, looked after R with such compassion. They are all beautiful people.
