As I watched my wife from a distance being wheeled into Labor and Delivery, gritting her teeth from the pain of contractions, I clasped my hands into prayer that she would be in good hands.  As a father, you hope that all deliveries are uneventful.  You cross your fingers that you hear a small cry, cut the cord, take a few pictures, and head home.  But you just don't know.  My prayers were answered under the care of nurse Michelle.  Why?  It's just that she cared.  When someone actively listens to your seemingly silly questions and answers thoughtfully and compassionately, they care.  When someone preemptively explains what they are about to do before doing it, they care.  And when someone takes the edge off by sharing their own personal story, they care.  Labor and Delivery is a 24/7 operation, and bringing that level of A' game to your craft is worth recognition.  Michelle's devotion and attentiveness made a huge impression on my wife and me, and we hope she is recognized for her labor and love.
