I stayed overnight after a total knee replacement.  It was late in the day, so my nursing care was the night shift.  From the moment I was transitioned to 1OS, I was struck by her expertise and professionalism.  She not only asked the clinical questions but also added her experience as to what to expect in my care for the evenings and the next day.  She set the expectations and delivered on every one.  When it was time to walk, we did (on time).  Her instructions for everything she did were explicit and concise.  She also exhibited a caring manner that calmed me as a patient.  Encouraging words go a long way when a patient doesn’t know what to expect.  To my surprise, I found out that she was a pool/shift nurse who wasn’t always with Ortho.  I was surprised because she was so knowledgeable and prepared that I never would have guessed.  This was an amazing experience that Lisa made happen.
