My mom had a stroke and was unresponsive and on the ventilator. She is still in the ICU, and Lauren has been her nurse for the past three days. She was very professional and helpful in explaining what was happening and why it was happening. But it is her caring way of tending to my mom and making sure we understand everything that means so much to us. She ALWAYS used my mom's name and told her exactly what she was going to do during every step of every interaction. From "I'm going to suction you" to "I'm going to move your head." She detailed every step. She treated my mom like she would treat her own loved one. Her concern for making sure we understood what was happening, why each test was being done, and what each medication was for—all those details that are overwhelming when you are scared for your loved one--, was greatly reassuring and greatly appreciated. In short, we think Lauren is phenomenal.
