Congratulations to Michele Nordstrom, RN, who was chosen as the most recent winner of the Aspirus Keweenaw DAISY Award. The DAISY (Diseases Attacking Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide daily. As a reminder, patients and their families submit nominations for this award. Michele was nominated by a patient who was in for their first surgical procedure and was feeling very nervous. The patient stated, "Michele took great care of me and made me feel at home. I really enjoyed my time with her; she made me feel at ease." The AKH DAISY Award recognizes the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. These nurses, such as Michele, exceed the needs and expectations of patients and families by displaying our core values: Compassion, Accountability, Collaboration, Foresight, and Joy.
