Covid has taken its toll on all nurses around the country. Our unit specifically is seeing nurses quit right and left. Susan is the mama bear in our unit. She has years and years of experience and is a great charge nurse and is super dedicated to her job and all of the nurses she works with. She lives up to all of the things nurses should aspire to become. She is knowledgeable, trusting, and orderly. With morale low, staffing shortages, and sick ICU patients you can count on Susan to be there for both the patients on the unit and all of the ICU nurses for whom she is the charge nurse. She truly tries to take nurses under her wing and our unit would not be the same without her. She deserves to be recognized for all her hard work and uplifting spirit to patients' families and all of the nurses she encourages on the unit despite the difficult times.
