Lauren Hamilton is a very hard-working and caring person. In the 6 months since my transplant, she has reached out to check on me and to wish me well.
I was bed-bound in the CVIC unit on a balloon pump for almost 5 weeks waiting for a heart transplant. After a week, Lauren Hamilton could tell that I was struggling with being immobile and that I was not sure of my potential outcome. Through research and creative thinking, Lauren Hamilton and a few other nurses came up with a plan to use a tilt bed to stand me up so that I could walk around the hospital. It added more work for her and her colleagues, but Lauren saw how much it lifted my spirits being able to get up and walk like a normal person again. She would take me on special daily adventures around the hospital. I know that if it wasn't for her willingness and other CVIC staff to go above and beyond, I wouldn't have mentally and physically made it through and recovered from my heart transplant as well as I did.
