My sister was so afraid, and Sarah helped her write a note to her family at my sister’s request.
When my sister was transferred to this hospital, she was met by this special nurse. Sarah talked with her and explained that if she wasn’t intubated and put on a ventilator, she would probably just have a few hours to live. Sarah explained that she was breathing so hard and her heart would not be able to take that much longer. My sister was so afraid, and Sarah helped her write a note to her family at my sister’s request. She wanted to tell us to pray and that she was scared. Sarah asked her if she wanted her to pray, and my sister shook her head yes. Sarah prayed with her, and then my sister wrote, “I love you all.” My sister then let Sarah know she was ready to be put to sleep. Sarah held her hand until she went to sleep, then she was intubated. Sarah then called me and told me all the things that had taken place. A few days later, I was able to meet Sarah and thank her for being there. She was an angel sent by God when we couldn’t be there. Even if Sarah doesn’t receive the DAISY Award, I’m sure she will be awarded in Heaven by God himself for being there for my sister at her greatest time of need. I will be forever grateful for that.
