I have watched John develop from a newly graduated nurse to a competent, compassionate nurse. John always gives his all in patient care, education, and interaction with patients and their families. John is thorough and always makes sure his patients and his workspace are in tip-top shape. John stays busy throughout the shift, making sure all patients get the utmost care and are treated with dignity and respect always. I recently had an experience that really moved me involving John that I would like to share. John is always eager and willing to help our MICU team without hesitation. John was assisting me with a particularly painful procedure for a patient. John utilized that time to build rapport with the patient and used some of the information gleaned about the patient during that time to help distract her from the process. This included singing hymns and praying with the patient. This was so moving for me as it was difficult to do the procedure needing to be done since it caused her enormous amounts of pain. I am so thankful to have John on our team and am looking forward to seeing his continued growth in his nursing career.
