Ms. Yerry was caring for an elderly COVID Veteran who was nearing the end of his life. He was very confused and desperately in need of comfort. Thinking outside of the box, Ms. Yerry began loading video chat apps on her personal cellphone so that the patient could communicate with his wife and daughter before his untimely death. It was a great comfort to the family and most importantly to the patient. He was able to listen to the video chat with his family and passed away soon after. Ms. Yerry went above and beyond to ensure the Veteran had the comfort he needed at the end of his life. We, the ICU team, are glad to have Ms. Yerry as a part of our team. We are extremely lucky to have her at our VA caring for the ones who fought for freedom. She is truly the heart of nursing.
