Having had a cardiac condition for the last 3 decades, fortunately, or unfortunately I am a veteran hospital patient having been admitted to 14 different hospitals throughout the United States. Of all those admissions, the nurses at NCH have proven to be a cut above the norm, often far above the norm and I have found Debra to be exemplary within the group here at NCH. Not simply because she is obviously technically an expert at her job, but she made me feel cared for as an individual. Despite having 6 patients when she was caring for me I kind of felt like I was her only patient, and that is an extraordinary feeling as a patient. I was a department head for decades in very high-end luxury hotels, and I am more than qualified to judge excellence. Obviously a hospital is much different than a hotel, but there are similarities. One of them is anticipating the guests (patients) needs, and Debra always seemed to know what could comfort and/or heal me. I am very grateful to have been her patient and most certainly felt blessed to experience her care 4 days in a row. During that time I also happened to know that she had a “difficult” patient who required a little extra “TLC” but as I mentioned, I never felt as though I received diminished care in any way. I feel honored to be able to express my recognition of her, her kindness, her compassion, and her skill.
