Amanda firmly grasped my hand with her free hand to help me through those hard few moments.
Amanda saved my baby’s life. From the moment we met her, she was sweet, attentive, and very informative, willing to answer any and all of my questions openly and honestly throughout the labor process. She was very patient with me, a supposed precipitous laborer, even though my labor was not progressing like we thought it would! When she found that the umbilical cord had prolapsed, she was calm, yet quick, to call for help and within minutes I was in the OR. My worry hasn’t really hit me until they told me I would need to go under general anesthesia because I didn’t have an epidural, and I remember tearing up, not really knowing what to expect. Amanda firmly grasped my hand with her free hand to help me through those hard few moments. I didn’t realize until discussing the series of events with my OB that Amanda’s hand was holding up my son’s head that whole time until he was pulled out! I had also mentioned that I had discussed a tubal ligation with my OB as we wheeled into the OR, and when I woke up, my husband told me that the nurses had advocated for what I wanted and it was performed after the c-section! It was a whirlwind of an experience for both of us, but when I look back on the series of events, I am so glad that Amanda was my nurse through the whole thing. I knew what was going on at all times, I had incredible support, and I felt comfortable even through an unplanned circumstance. Thank you, Amanda, for all that you did for us! We will always be grateful that you helped L enter this world safe and sound!! P.S. - so sorry to make your first day back such a crazy one!
