During my time there, I was impressed with how he interacted with his peers, stepping in to help them when needed, even before they asked for his help.
I recognize Nurse Randy from the GI Lab as an extraordinary nurse for his competence, skill, kindness, and compassion not only for his patients but also for his colleagues. I was in the GI lab for a procedure. During my time there, I was impressed with how he interacted with his peers, stepping in to help them when needed, even before they asked for his help. I was even more impressed with the skill he demonstrated with caring for me. I have always had very bad experiences with IVs, and my arm has always been left bruised and swollen; therefore, I was very anxious, and my palms were sweating. Nurse Randy and his colleague Nurse "N" put me at ease by distracting me, bantering with me about my favorite vacation spot as Nurse Randy took his time to find and prepare the perfect vein. I barely noticed when he put the needle in, and the most amazing thing for me was that my hand never got bruised or swollen! I have been to various labs and hospitals for IVs injections and blood draws, and this is the first time that this has ever happened. I wish that Nurse Randy could teach others his technique because it would help many more patients to have a more comfortable experience and to relieve their anxiety. I know from personal experience that fear of needles is not baseless, and it keeps many patients from getting vaccinations and medical procedures done. If all nurses had the skill that Nurse Randy has, I am certain that more people would get the injections and procedures that they need, possibly saving lives. I applaud his skill and competence in the work that he does every day. The love that he has for his patients, his team, and for his vocation is very evident.
