Having the opportunity to work with Kelsey is absolutely uplifting; I call her our little sunshine. The compassion and energy this young lady brings to LCI is invigorating. One day Kelsey was looking at her patient assignment and noticed one specific patient she was going to have that day and remembered a previous encounter with the patient and printed sudoku puzzles for the patient to do during treatment that day. The patient was so excited Kelsey had done this for them. Then just a few days later, she was doing intake on a patient, and he was complaining about his old CPAP machine and how the cord was worn out, so he wasn't able to use it all of the time, and how he could tell the difference because he was so tired. After getting the patient situated and tx started, she investigated the CPAP machine the patient had and sat with the patient and found the appropriate cord for his machine on amazon, had him enter his address and payment info, and ordered him a cord for his machine. This patient was so amazed by the "technology" of being able to order something like that and have it delivered straight to his house. She does stuff like this literally ALL the time!!!! But also, the compassion that Kelsey has for her patients is so heartfelt and enduring to watch, and her patients feel it, and we as a team feel it as well. Kelsey truly hears her patients and their needs. She connects with them, and she is a true inspiration to her team as a reminder of why we all become nurses to care and serve our patients. Absolutely amazing.
