Lisa provides excellent care to all her patients, but this is one example of her quick thinking and calmness she demonstrates.
One day, Lisa was alone in the preop area. "H," "N," "P," "C," and I were each in our own offices. Over a walkie, you heard Lisa in a piercing voice, "you fell!". We all went to the preop area, and there was Lisa on two different phones. Lisa had called for the patient's chart, which was in the business office, to get his mom's phone number. Lisa sounded just like a 911 operator. She remained calm and stayed on the phone with the patient. She called the mom on another phone to calmly ask her how far away she was and that she needed to get to her son quickly. She remained on the phone with mom till she arrived, and she knew he was safe. Lisa provided clear instructions on how to get him up safely, check the operative area, and how to manage post-op pain medication. I spoke to his mom; unfortunately, they could not attend today. She wanted to say, "Congratulations, we are very grateful and appreciative that you stayed on the phone with him. She knew he was in good hands, you were amazingly calm, and you definitely deserve this award! Lisa provides excellent care to all her patients, but this is one example of her quick thinking and calmness she demonstrates. Thank you, Lisa, for all you do, and Congratulations! I will end on a few Lisa-isms that have rubbed off on us: - "my gravy!" which comes in handy when you have kids around - "what the what!" - "hear me out," which she says to me as I run by her, and, our favorite, "from soup to nuts." Thank you for your passion for nursing!
