Mary has been the number one resource person for the clinic for education and is a mentor for the orientation of new nurses.
Mary is one of the hardest working RNs in the Emerald/Gold clinic. With multiple roles as a PACT RN for a very busy academic team, Mary is also the Team Lead who makes sure staffing lists are sent out before 0600, M-F, and makes sure the clinic runs smoothly, which includes making sure the assigned staff are performing daily tasks of equipment checks, medication/supply refills and expirations, and coverage for those who are either on AL or SL. These are just a few of those daily tasks she provides with excellence. Mary runs the CLR report and makes sure the rest of the staff complete them in a timely manner, giving the clinics a consistent 100% completion for over two years, which no other clinic has done. This is a group effort that is religiously performed by Mary even during her days off and on weekends. Mary has been the number one resource person for the clinic for education and is a mentor for the orientation of new nurses. Mary’s advocacy and commitment to serving our Veterans is reflected by acknowledgments from patients and their families for the care she provides. She had a patient who lives in Mexico and only comes to see their PCP. Mary coordinated his care while he was still in Mexico, making sure his appointments were scheduled, confirmed, and communicated to the veteran, including labs, consults, and other needs. The patient had all his care taken care of when he came to the clinic and highly praised Mary for her diligence in communicating and making sure all his needs were met.
