As I had never been in the ICU before and the emergency care needed, I was beyond afraid. Caitlyn went beyond being a nurse. She was compassionate and caring and made me feel as though I was going to be okay. She not only took care of me, but she also talked to me. She related on a professional and personal level. She knew I was feeling down and not good about my appearance. So she combed and braided my hair. It was a mess, but she took the time to get out each knot and make me feel human again. She went beyond the care needed and gave me a mental outlook of feeling good. Each night before she left, she came in to tell me she was leaving and told me I would be okay. Not only did she make me feel good, but she made me feel strong and like a “person,” not just a patient. She is the best.
