Kara embodies the true meaning of what a nurse should be. She goes above and beyond to make sure I understand what care she is giving me and that all my needs and questions are answered. If for some reason, she doesn’t know an answer to something, she will contact whoever she needs (doctors or nurses) to find out. She has a bright and bubbly personality that warms up the room when she comes in. Kara doesn’t just listen, but she truly hears what I tell her. I am partially blind and have problems with my legs, and not once has Kara ever made me feel less than or looked down on because of my disabilities. When I’m feeling anxious or scared, she will talk through those fears, so I feel comfortable and at ease. She’s true to her words and always follows through with anything she tells me and does so in a timely fashion. She always makes time for me even though I know she has other patients. She still makes me feel like I’m her only one. She never rushes to get things done. She never gets frustrated when things are busy and hectic. She slows down and takes her time. The best way to describe her is simply amazing. You can tell that she was born to be a nurse and takes great pride in her work. There isn’t a story or a specific interaction that stood out, but just the overall care and compassion that she has shown me during my stay is what I want to recognize. I can’t say enough about her and what a wonderful experience I had with her as my nurse. If I ever have to be admitted again, I would pray that Kara would be my nurse because I know I would get excellent care from someone who is educated and loves the job she is doing.
