Michelle Maturo was recognized as Frederick Health’s latest DAISY Award Honoree with a presentation on 4B. A patient’s family nominated Michelle for the outstanding care she provided to their father. “Our nurse Michelle is so special because she was not just my father’s nurse; she took care of our whole family. Michelle leads with her heart and extends her hands, going beyond to bring comfort (and even a smile) to all the faces she meets. My father, my hero, was in her care for several days, and she did everything to make him as comfortable as possible, as well as advocate for him. My father recently had brain surgery and has trouble communicating now. Every time I leave him, I pray that the next person to see him treats him with compassion and patience. Michelle not only does this; she does more. She is the nurse that I only hope every patient in this hospital can experience. When I leave him here, I am not just leaving him with a nurse; I am leaving him with an angel."
