I had right ankle surgery and Heather was my recovery room nurse. I had excruciating pain that was unrelieved with pain meds. Heather did everything in her power to get my pain under control, stayed by my side as much as her patient load allowed, and informed my friend of my status frequently. I felt as if Heather never left my side, was beyond attentive and she believed that my pain was real by listening to me and reading my body language. She went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that I, and all of her patients I’m sure, get the best care while under her direct care. She even took time out of her day to check on me the next day with a latte in her hand. Heather exemplifies all of the ICARE principles. Her professionalism, upbeat attitude, art of communication, and amount of respect for patients and co-workers is to be noted. I will never forget Heather Penfield’s kindness and care.
