As soon as Mindy entered the room and introduced herself I felt so much better.
I was induced way back in late June. Mindy was my nurse for most of my stay and the impact she had on my experience has stuck with me for months. Giving birth can be incredibly scary, and as a first-time mom, I was nervous and anxious about what was about to happen to me. I’ve feared giving birth/being in labor my entire life. As soon as Mindy entered the room and introduced herself I felt so much better. I immediately trusted her and felt at ease. She explained everything that was happening and why, which is hard to come by in healthcare sometimes. Her presence was just such a comfort to me. It was almost motherly, and with the pandemic, my mom wasn’t able to be with me during the hardest days of my life.

Mindy’s presence meant a lot more to me than she may have realized. Even after I had my c-section, she was the one who discharged me and I felt so confident walking out of the hospital because she was so kind and informative. I even joked to my husband a few days after coming home that I wanted Mindy back and that I missed her. I think back on my hospital stay fondly because of her. She was an angel for me and I think everyone deserves a Mindy when they have their baby.

Note: This is Mindy's 2nd DASY Award!
