Danielle was consulted to a patient on our floor who is quite sick and most likely to be put on Hospice in the near future. Danielle was going to see the patient to provide ostomy care, which she did, but she also ended up providing emotional support to the patient's wife. It was the patient's wife’s birthday, and she was dealing with the very real fact that she may not be able to spend any more birthdays with her husband. Danielle sat and supported the wife as she cried being just the outlet that she needed. After Danielle provided care to the patent and the wife, she went down to the gift shop and brought the patient's wife a birthday flower which made her day. Danielle did not stop there, she then talked to the nurse manager to facilitate providing the patient's wife with a special guest tray for her birthday. Dietary was able to bring the wife a tray like the special ones they give on the OB unit for a special birthday dinner.

This is just one example of the magnificent things that Danielle does for her patients and their families. It is easy to see that she cares about each and every patient that she cares for. The hospital is very fortunate to have such a skilled and compassionate nurse as Danielle. She is greatly appreciated by every single unit in this hospital. Danielle is the epitome of an Extraordinary Nurse, and she makes me proud to be in this profession.
