The best part was he did it with a smile on his face and did not complain once.
I felt I needed to take the time to recognize Mark for his unwavering level of teamwork and dedication to our patients. I was almost three hours late for my shift yesterday due to the road conditions. I felt so bad knowing that Mark was due to come back in the evening. He made sure all of our patients got their morning feeds, medications, vital signs, diaper changes, suctioning, and even did trach ties for me. The best part was he did it with a smile on his face and did not complain once. I kept apologizing over and over and offered to stay late so that he could get enough rest. He insisted that it was not a problem and that he would be there on time for his shift, which he was. Again, without any complaint. This was a true testament to his character as a nurse. He was and always is a true team player that is willing to help in every situation while also making the best of it. Even though I knew it was out of my hands yesterday, I was still disappointed that my patients and their parents were waiting on me. But in reality, everything was just fine because of Mark. He truly put our patients and our unit first. And although yesterday was a rare circumstance, this is the way he is every day he comes to work.
