I came in at 2 pm for a colonoscopy. I was pleasantly greeted by Laura when I was in reception. I was happy to know she would be with me during my whole procedure. I must have been more nervous about the colonoscopy than I thought I was because my blood pressure was higher than I can ever remember it being. I have a lot going on at home financially and with my mom's medical problems. Laura was very hands-on, making sure everything was properly connected, all the questions in the system were answered, and even called my primary care doctor for a fax. I know this is all that she is trained to do but she did this as she talked to me and we had a normal conversation. Our personalities match a lot. I can tell she has extreme empathy for her patients and is always "patient first". It was nice to have her waiting with me instead of the person I brought to drive me home because there was no focus on the procedure once we discussed what was happening. That kept my mind off of the colonoscopy and by the time we went to the procedure room with the doctor my blood pressure was back to normal! Laura even removed a $5 sticker from me that I had sat on at home! It was the laugh of the hour. If we could request whom we wanted our nurse to be for procedures I would recommend her and ask for her every time! She was professional, compassionate, and empathetic and I'm so glad we were brought together!
