Dr. Scott’s passion for teaching allows her students to be openly inquisitive while maintaining a fun and engaging learning environment.
Dr. Scott was my professor for Health Assessment in the fall trimester of 2021 and is now the coordinator of nursing simulations. Throughout the trimester, she never failed to create a comfortable and safe space for learning. She came to class every day with a smile on her face and was eager to teach! I genuinely look up to her and admire her enthusiasm and love for the work that she does. Many students, including myself, find it difficult to speak up when we have questions or do not understand a concept, as we are afraid of sounding ignorant or feeling insufficient. However, Dr. Scott’s passion for teaching allows her students to be openly inquisitive while maintaining a fun and engaging learning environment. She displays a love for education that I have not seen among any of my instructors in the past.
When teaching new skills, Dr. Scott understands the importance of being attentive, patient, and positive. Despite students’ urges to become discouraged and frustrated, Dr. Scott remains calm and walks us through each step until we are confident in our skills. From the first day of class with Dr. Scott, she presented herself as compassionate, personable, and approachable. I can say with certainty that Dr. Cheryl Scott genuinely cares about each and every one of her students and wants to see us all succeed.
Personally, I had never considered the idea of becoming a nursing instructor, but Dr. Scott has inspired me to give it more thought, as we most definitely need more instructors like her. I aspire to be as passionate in my upcoming career as Dr. Cheryl Scott.
