I thank God that she happened to be with my husband at the exact time of his arrest. She saved his life.
My husband (bilateral lung transplant recipient) was admitted for a blood clot in his leg. Later that night he was being taken for a cat scan. As my husband got on the stretcher he went into cardiac arrest. Jessica was with him when it happened. She went into action immediately. She started chest compressions and told the tech to call a code. After eight minutes, my husband’s heart started beating. The resuscitation was a team effort, but Jessica’s quick response and ability to perform CPR under such pressure is commendable. My husband survived and was transferred to the ICU. Jessica had to finish her shift and take care of her other patients after this traumatic event. She is truly a hero in our eyes. I thank God that she happened to be with my husband at the exact time of his arrest. She saved his life. She even took the time to console me.

Jessica embodies the qualities of a true nurse. She not only performs the skills required to take care of her patients, she does it with compassion and empathy. When my husband was readmitted to the hospital the following month for a procedure, Jessica came in on her off day to see my husband. It was very emotional for all of us. She was so happy and surprised to see that my husband had recovered from his cardiac arrest without any complications. I thank God that He put Jessica right where she needed to be that night.
