Ms. Moore is there for her staff during times they need a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen, advice on career moves, and a ride to work during inclement weather or a warm place to sleep if they live a distance from work.
Sabrina advocates daily for the veterans we serve. She is always very pleasant, nurturing, and compassionate towards our veterans. Sabrina encourages her staff to take time to listen to the veteran, to be respectful, kind and always maintain their dignity. Sabrina is always searching for ways to improve the veteran experience with suggestions from staff or ideas from other areas. Sabrina advocates for her staff, provides support and resources where needed, encourages, and assist with workplace and personal growth. Sabrina is willing to provide a helping hand whether she obtains vital signs to help a nursing assistant or provides transport to X-ray or CT to prevent a veteran from having to wait. Sabrina is an excellent nurse manager; I have personally learned so much from her and hope that one day I can be half of the manager she is.

Ms. Moore exemplifies the qualities of a true servant leader. She has earned the respect of all of her staff and peers by demonstrating Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence in her leadership during, before, and after the Pandemic that has threatened our nursing staff with burnout, turnover, and daily stress in the workplace. Watching Ms. Moore always showing a brave and encouraging smile for the staff and her co-workers has been one of the pleasures of being her supervisor. She always puts the Veterans' needs first along with her staff and their well-being.

She has championed and led many initiatives to keep staff motivated. It is true that food is comfort and the staff on 3N always finds reasons to celebrate birthdays and accomplishments. She championed the DEMPs employees to travel to other VAs to provide excellent care all over the country. She has memories displayed by those employees throughout her unit so that we are all able to share in their brave accomplishments.

Sabrina always steps up in times of need by covering and detailing herself or a qualified member of her staff to help in management or other capacities. Ms. Moore always displays a “glass half full” approach. She has inspired me to see my glass as half full. She is a champion for nurse recruitment, retention, and ease of hiring. I never have had a conversation with Ms. Moore that she is not pitching great ideas on how to get nurses to the VA to work and deliver “the best care anywhere. Ms. Moore is there for her staff during times they need a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen, advice on career moves, and a ride to work during inclement weather or a warm place to sleep if they live a distance from work. Ms. Moore deserves to be recognized as a true servant leader who strives for her staff to be the best they can be and grow and learn at the Lexington VA HCS.

Sabrina is known to her team as a strong, compassionate leader who never fails to bring sunshine in with her each morning. I have watched her over the years go above and beyond for her staff. She takes the time to learn each of their personalities and supports their aspirations and growth on a professional, as well as personal level. She gives the most uplifting pep talks, and never fails to be a beacon of light in the most stressful of moments. Sabrina has perfected the task of developing strong nurses as you can find those nurses spread throughout the facility following their hearts in critical care and some even on to leadership themselves. She has the ability to inspire and motivate her staff to perform at their highest potential and still manages to follow her heart to the bedside as often as possible, even if it is to have a quick conversation or set up a meal tray for a veteran. I could go on endlessly with examples of why Sabrina deserves recognition for her outstanding leadership, but also that she is a nurse that has great passion and pride in caring for and providing the best care for our veterans.
