They never hesitated to help a coworker out, and they always managed to complete their own tasks to perfection.
An extraordinary nurse is one that you would choose to care for your own loved one in their time of need. This Nurse is that type of nurse. We first met them when they were a nursing student in clinicals. They were quiet and reserved but eager to learn and experience as much as they could during their time with patients. This Nurse became a nursing assistant on our unit, where they shined even brighter. They completed their nursing degree while working with us throughout the pandemic. Their devotion and warmth throughout difficult times was very impressive. They never hesitated to help a coworker out, and they always managed to complete their own tasks to perfection. Now that they are a nurse, they have continued to be a valuable asset to our unit and organization. This Nurse works on night shift, and it is a common occurrence for their patients to greet the oncoming day shift by telling them that they will be a tough act to follow! This Nurse is thorough but also incredibly efficient. They are cheerful and caring as well. Their clinical decision-making is always on point. This Nurse has faced difficult situations as a new graduate as if they were a seasoned nurse. They have grown to be an excellent nurse in a short period of time. When assigning patients, I know that I can count on this Nurse to provide exceptional care to all but especially those who need it most. Recently a coworker’s closest loved one became a patient on our unit. This coworker happened to be in charge and tasked with creating the assignment for the oncoming night shift that included their own special loved one. It spoke volumes that this Nurse was chosen to care for “one of our own’s own.” I am proud to nominate this Nurse for this prestigious Award.
