The minute Kelsey entered the room you could see the relief on my mother's face.
I brought my mother to the Emergency Room for treatment for Bowel Obstruction. It was clearly not her first go around with this ailment due to battling Diverticulitis for nearly 40 years. While there, it was determined she would need to stay overnight for further treatment. This time was a little rougher than some of her previous visits and she was struggling to get comfortable. The quality of her care was and has always been above board at Paris Community Hospital/ Horizon Health and this time was no different.
I stopped in to visit her and found her to be doing better but still in some discomfort and full of questions she wanted answered. She asked me to find her nurse Kelsey Fuqua. Kelsey had taken care of her the previous day and had developed a good rapport with my mother. We all know at 89 years old, my mom wanted answers and she only wanted to talk to one person Kelsey. No offense to the other nurse or the 2 CNAs helping out but she only wanted one person. The minute Kelsey entered the room you could see the relief on my mother's face. I was sitting in the room and watched Kelsey immediately kneel down and place her hands in a fashion similar to if she was praying and lean on the bed. She was very calm and spoke in a soft quiet tone asking my mother "what can I do for you, P?" You could tell the minute she began to speak Kelsey was being the genuine, caring, and soft-hearted Health Care Professional she is who had earned my respect and definitely my mom's.
Paris Community Hospital/Horizon Health should feel proud they have such a fine example of a Health Care Professional in Nurse Kelsey Fuqua. Please Recognize Nurse Kelsey Fuqua for her commitment to excellence in providing care to the patients of your facility and setting an example for all others to follow.
