She saved my dad's life that day.
My dad came to the infusion room to get blood last Friday. He has been at Cuba Manor. In my opinion, he hasn't been getting good care there. He was supposed to be getting better, but he hadn't been able to rest and was getting worse. My dad was tired and getting weaker. He started having stomach issues, and no one there would listen to the pleads that he was getting worse. I told "T." I told her if I sent my dad back to Cuba Manor, he was going to die. She said she didn't know what she could do but sat us in another room and said she would talk to her boss. My dad started crying because he was afraid to go back. I started praying we would get help. I tried to call the VA. I tried to call doctor "A's" office. No one would answer. It felt like no one would help us. I thought this would be when my dad would give up and wouldn't want to fight cancer anymore. Katlyn walked in; we were both crying, and she sat down and told us it was going to be ok and she was going to help us. She listened to my dad and me and then said she was going to make some calls to see what she could get done. I still didn't think she could help because I had called everyone I knew, and no one would listen. Katlyn came back in and said she had called Dr. "A." She said it looked like my dad could stay, but she wasn't for sure yet, but she would make more calls and let us know. When she came back, she told us they were going to keep my dad to run some tests. She said they would make sure he got to rest while he was there, and she would call a care manager to see if he could go to another nursing home when he was ready to go home. All I could do was hug her. I didn't have any words. I was just thankful she listened and went out of her way to help us. I can't thank her enough for caring the way she did because she didn't have to do any of what she did. My dad stayed there several nights. He had to get blood and was working with therapy. Katlyn helped him to go to a different floor when he was ready and gave us more time to find another nursing home for him to go to. She saved my dad's life that day. He would have given up, but she showed him there were people he didn't know who would fight for him and care for him. She didn't treat us like we were bothering her, even though we were asking her to help with something that wasn't her problem. She made it her problem, and she fixed it, and we have never had someone help us like she did. I prayed to God for help, and He sent an angel into that room to help us. I want her to know what she did for us and how much it meant to us.
