It’s 6 am and I am not a happy camper! The day before I received a call from my Dr. telling me that I had to have a procedure done the next day and I was the first case. The nurse who took my intake information was so kind, warm, and down to earth. She placed my IV with ease and got me ready for my procedure in a calm manner. Despite my grumpiness, her dangly earrings and masked smile were ever-present. She treated me as a human, not a diagnosis, not with judgment, but with empathy. She is the perfect example of what “caring” looks like. I will never forget how she made me feel during a trying, difficult, and scary time. Though our encounter was brief, it was very meaningful and impactful to me.
