My partner has had two kidney transplants at Walsgrave Hospital. The renal team is amazing as a whole. Mary met me and my partner 8 years ago. She was a great support through my partner's recovery. When we lost his first kidney to rejection, Mary was the first to be with us and has always known how to keep us calm.

I'm not Mary's patient but she always made time to check if I was ok and if I was coping. Mary always asked about our children. Anytime my partner goes to Walsgrave, we ask for Mary due to his mental health and Mary always comes through. I've had lots of calls with Mary for reassurance. She talked us through dialysis and kept in contact. She was the first to call us to check my partner was safe when Covid started. The second kidney came and I was so glad to see Mary still there; it was like a family reunion. You dread the day Mary isn't there anymore, she deserves this award and a lot.
