This nurse is a classic example of what a DAISY nomination should be. She has worked at this facility for over 35 years. Her tireless dedication to her profession goes beyond notice. I could name a million little things that made or make a difference in the patients' lives she has touched over her years of service here. Here are a few. I have seen her buy clothes and shoes for patients who need them. Pam takes her Christmas gift cards and gives them to patients that need them more than she does. Pam is also our nurse barber. She has cut and styled the beards and hair of countless patients. The most recent was a gentleman in our unit, where she gave him the spa treatment. He stated, “I don’t even recognize myself,” and he then cried. She is a mentor to dozens of new staff in the ICU. She is truly respected by all staff and Physicians. If a Physician calls, they ask if Pam is here! Like I said, I could give a million examples. I can truly say Pam is one of the most professional, talented, and dedicated nurses to ever work in our hospital. They don’t make nurses like her anymore.
