Carla has continued to be a voice of support that I can do this, she has been our cheerleader for every pound my daughter fought hard to gain and a resource for some of my crazy questions.
I found out in November of 2020 that my daughter, whom I was pregnant with, has Cystic Fibrosis, since I already knew this was a risk, I already had a plan. I immediately called the Sanford CF clinic in Fargo; I expected to leave a message and get a call back at some point later. I was surprised to not only have someone (Carla) answer the phone but proceed to talk to me for a good hour about what to expect and keep an eye out for. Her voice was the voice of an angel for this scared mother whose not even born baby was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, she put me at ease. Carla took my calls over the next few months probably sometimes on a weekly basis reassuring me that everything was going to be all right. She helped me coordinate my daughter's treatment between the CF clinic in Fargo and Bismark so we wouldn't have to go to Fargo every month for the first 6 months, she helped me feel ready to hit the ground running when my daughter was born.

Carla was one of my first calls when I went into labor and after she was born (she found out before some family). Fast forward to now I have had the pleasure to get to know her better over these last 14 months and my daughter is approaching her first birthday. Carla has continued to be a voice of support that I can do this, she has been our cheerleader for every pound my daughter fought hard to gain and a resource for some of my crazy questions.

Carla and her CF team (after all they would be lost without her) have become extended family. I have worked in healthcare almost all of my adult life and have worked with many nurses over the years, Carla is one of those nurses that 20 years down the road you will still remember, there are not many nurses I can say that about. She is definitely a treasure for Sanford to have and we are grateful to have her in our lives.
