My son-in-law was dying the day I was allowed to stay with him. I can't begin to say how heartbroken we were knowing he was leaving his son and all of us. Paul was mentoring Dominic as he was a new nurse. Both men were the most compassionate staff members we dealt with during his stay.

I could tell Dominic was a new nurse but what was more important was knowing this young man went into the right profession. Both nurses were knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive to their patient’s needs to make him more comfortable. When I had a concern, they responded immediately to help their dying patient. They never questioned my requests for medications or increased needs to make him comfortable or call [the] doctor. It gave us peace of mind knowing he was comfortable and not judged.

Paul was right by Dominic’s side, making sure all was done correctly and giving [the] best care. The two nurses not only showed their patient kindness, compassion, and excellence of care with all they did for him to keep him in peace during his last hours but showed his family the same.

These two nurses NEED to be recognized for their exceptional care and teach other nurses how to treat patients and family members. I would trust these two nurses to take care of my family and that says a lot coming from me. Grieving for a loved one needs to be recognized by staff; it’s not just taking care of the patient; it’s caring about family too. These two men did this. I’m so sorry it took so long to write this, but I was emotionally unable to before. So grateful our loved one was taken care of by these two nurses.
