Cody also acted as an advocate for me with my doctor.
Cody was my nurse today. I arrived for my chemo treatment. I was not feeling well. Cody was so patient with me. He listened to my concerns. He did not appear rushed or distracted. When he accessed my port he had issues with getting blood return. Instead of taking the needle out and starting over like had happened multiple times in the past, he had several tricks up his sleeve! He tried them all...and then just like he had waved a magic wand there was blood return! I didn't get stuck multiple times and my anxiety was so much better because of the confidence he displayed in his own abilities and the constant reassurance he offered to me.
Cody also acted as an advocate for me with my doctor. He didn't hesitate to ask the physician for anything I needed no matter how trivial. Even though I didn't actually receive treatment that day due to lab abnormalities, just IV hydration, it was the most at ease I have felt since beginning the chemo journey....and to that, I have my new friend Cody to thank! Cody is an asset to Vandy and should be honored for his character.
