Shannon goes above and beyond in her role as charge nurse. She keeps preop running smoothly and helps her team address issues as they arise and helps find safe solutions. One of my favorite qualities of Shannon is how present of a listener she is. We often joke that everyone wants to tell Shannon all of their life problems. She is warm and comforting to our patients.

We recently had a patient who had a delay in preop for over 9 hours due to blood product. Shannon was in constant conversation with the patient and family doing everything she could to keep them comfortable. She arranged to get the patient and his wife overnight accommodations if needed (luckily it was not). She got the family a meal during their long wait. She made multiple calls to the blood bank, the red cross, etc. The patient, family, and physician were very appreciative of all Shannon's help. Shannon set aside her own needs and waited to take her break until after 3 pm.

Shannon is a role model to other nurses on her team. We are so fortunate to have her leading our team in preop. Thank you for all that you do Shannon! We appreciate you.
