Nurse Riley will always hold a place in my heart for his caring compassion. I was admitted with COVID & extremely low oxygen levels. He was so busy, but always took the time to make me feel like a person he cared about getting well instead of just a “number” & more to his workload! There was a point when the respiratory therapist told me I had to make a decision & let them know if they could intubate me if needed. I was scared. I am 60 years old & my husband was not there (not allowed in my room) to talk to & give advice. I asked if my nurse (Riley) could come in and talk to me for a few minutes. He did come, as crazy busy as he was, and let me talk with tears! He knew I was frightened and showed much compassion and was confident I would make the right decision for me. His calming voice and kindness calmed me down. As all of the wonderful nurses, he always tried to make sure I was comfortable and couldn’t do enough to help me. I tried not to “bother” too much because I know how busy and tired the nurses were, but Riley never let it seem like he was too busy to care for my needs both physically & emotionally. He IS truly a DAISY Nurse.
