When Sara Groves started her shift, I knew immediately that I was in good hands. I was in a very precarious position that morning, experiencing heart problems for about hours. I had arrived at Kaiser two days prior with bilateral pneumonia, sepsis, and A-fib. When Sara came up into my room, she gave me the confidence that she was in control of the situation with great care and compassion. She calmed my fears, and we worked together to resolve my A-fib, and we did! I was fortunate to have Sara as my nurse. Nothing was too much for her. She was always there when I needed her. Sara's gift was that she took the time to get to know me as a person, not just as a patient. And in turn, that gift helped me to heal. I have spent my entire career in healthcare and the last 11 years in Hospice. Yet, to be on the other side was quite frightening to me. To have a nurse like Sara really helped me get through the situation.
