Michael has gone above and beyond by using his funds to secure a setup of barber supplies to provide patients a shave and haircut.
I'm a 100% service-connected vet with PTSD and I have tried everything possible to quell (reduce) the severe symptoms of my condition. Self-care and hygiene are, for me, better than Xanax. Looking clean and well-groomed is so overlooked and yet so important. Michael Williams does his work perfectly and is so consciences about his regular duties and this incredible volunteer service of cleaning rough looking fellows up. Appreciate him.

Michael Williams goes above and beyond for each veteran on the unit, whether assigned to him or not. He maintains integrity throughout admissions with a veteran by making a commitment and following through each time. The veterans know they can always count on him. He will advocate for each veteran he crosses paths with to provide the most positive experience possible. The veterans have said so themselves through many compliments written and passed onto superiors.

Michael will provide excellence each time he walks through the hospital doors. He gathers donations for the veterans who come in without belongings to provide them with daily necessities. Michael also provides haircuts to veterans per their request and has the sanitary equipment needed to maintain impeccable infection control. These veterans are so grateful after receiving an amazing haircut while admitted to an inpatient psych unit. Their gratitude has been heard repeatedly during this merger. It is my privilege to nominate Michael for this award as he is so deserving.

Michael Williams displays the utmost integrity, commitment, advocacy, respect, and excellence in care daily. Michael strives to build a genuine rapport with patients and maintains trust by keeping his word. He is fully committed to serving our veteran population, as evidenced by advocating for his patients in their times of need. Michael Williams frequently seeks to fulfill a patient's need to maintain personal grooming and hygiene by collaborating with voluntary services for a clean set of clothes. He has gone above and beyond by using his funds to secure a setup of barber supplies to provide patients a shave and haircut. Michael personally offers to share his talent with patients as he did for his fellow sailors while serving during active duty. Seeing the veterans with a bright smile and positive outlook speaks volumes. While, in his humble opinion, Michael Williams views this as a small gesture, it is a huge morale boost that shows genuine respect as he ensures dignity for our vets. Michael provides excellent nursing care as he upholds the nursing professional standards and exemplifies the core values of the VA.
