It has been difficult to get the courage to write this nomination because of the personal traumatic incident, but it is so well deserved for the MP ER team members and many others involved with my care. The ER team was able to pull together during a frightening event and save my life. They literally saved my life! During the early stages of the looming Covid pandemic, our superstar ER team was focused on our new "normal" ER life and going about our daily business when an unexpected event changed our perspective of "normal". I have worked at MP ER for over 20 years, it is my home and my ER team is my family. These words have never been truer than on this day.

I was traumatically injured by a patient rendering me unconscious. I have no recollection of approximately 30 minutes of my life, and my MP ER family was there for me to literally pick me up and save my life. To describe the scene to this day is quite traumatic and uncomfortable. The ER team not only took care of me when I could not, but they did this while fearing for their own lives at the same time because the threat had not been contained. Hearing stories of the event is shocking, to say the least, and I am truly impressed by the heroic actions that the MP ER team had to undertake while I was not able to assist. When I finally started to remember and piece together the events that had taken place, I was inside the CT scan. I remember thinking that if I have made it to CT scan then my team has my best interests at hand and I am safe and alive.

I woke up again and remember seeing Shawn, AOD, walking beside my stretcher as we were returning from a CT scan. Having my ER family and Shawn by my side during those first memories of the traumatic event made me feel at peace and I knew that I was being taken care of by THE BEST! Each member of the ER team that was on that day did all the right things at the right time to not only take care of me but to keep the ER safe and running. Words cannot express my gratitude for their brilliance and dedication. My provider, Christina, stepped right up and made sure I received quality care in my time of greatest need. The ER team never left my bedside and provided me with the utmost compassionate and quality care. They even placed the bair hugger on me to keep me warm because they know I tend to get cold, even on the warmest days. Those acts by my ER family are so filled with love and compassion that I am still overwhelmed to think of their extraordinary attention to providing me with the best medical and emotional care possible.

Rachael even had the exciting responsibility to hold my skin together while I was physically being put back together. The team on Witt 3 was outstanding and treated me like one of their own. They were so friendly and helpful during a very frightening time. EVERYONE stepped up to be there for me from every department and even other hospitals in BayCare. I remember finally being able to physically focus enough to look at my phone and I was overwhelmed by the amount of concerned current and past BayCare team members. There were well wishes and supportive messages from all BayCare hospitals. The messages came from all different departments and even from the BayCare administration. To say I felt loved, and still loved, by my BayCare family is an understatement. I am still amazed at the compassion and outpouring of support by everyone. The support and love helped me recover and eventually return "home" to MP ER. There are so many team member names and departments to nominate for this particular DAISY team nomination that I don't know where to begin. The ER team, radiology, the practitioners involved in my care, Witt 3, and BayCare administration ALL deserve the nomination and recognition, in my indebted opinion. Without ALL of these team members and departments, I would not have been able to heal and have the courage to return to MP ER. I am eternally grateful and hope that everyone involved in making me feel supported and loved feels my grateful appreciation.
