Brylee Seitz represents the best of nursing, and in someone so young, this is truly exceptional. I had an opportunity to work with her in her home unit of PCU while charge. She handled a challenging assignment like a veteran nurse, just four days off orientation. One of her patients was a young man who had metastatic cancer and was in a significant amount of pain and required frequent repositioning, pain management administration, emotional support and a comforting environment. Brylee delivered this and then some. She was compassionate, gentle, and soothing. She supported the patient's family every way she could to offer them some relief and support from the emotional onslaught of watching their loved one suffer. The patient and his family would have never known that she had other patients. Brylee was present, as if he was her only patient, and she cared for him as if he were her family member. The depth of her compassion did not go unnoticed, and it should not go unrecognized. Brylee is an asset to her team and embodies the mission, vision, and values of SSM. She is the best of what nursing can and should be. She is an asset to any team and we are fortunate to have her. Brylee is a shining example of nursing excellence at its finest.
