Paula's bedside manner and skill are also models of the highest level of nursing care and any patient would be fortunate to have her care for them.
As a CRL Paula is very supportive of her staff. She is always willing to help her team and is committed to high-quality care. Over the years Paula has been instrumental in helping the staff prepare for our Joint Commission knee and hip recertifications by performing audits and educating her team on expectations regarding documentation and providing feedback on the metrics. Paula is well respected by her staff and the providers. I can always count on Paula to overcome any barriers and she always has a solution. Her unit was most recently recognized for improved patient experience scores and this accomplishment represents the efforts Paula has made as a leader on her unit! So proud to work with an amazing RN who always makes her patients and team a priority.

She is a constant positive presence on the unit. Her ability to lead during difficult times is unparalleled and she goes the extra step to help resolve issues. We can always count on her to be professional and mentor all staff especially important in recent years. Paula's bedside manner and skill are also models of the highest level of nursing care and any patient would be fortunate to have her care for them. Paula Evelich has been an anchor to the orthopedic team for decades. She role models extraordinary behavior on a daily basis - from helping a patient walk for the first time after joint replacement surgery to advocating for all patients and being flexible in always meeting the needs of the department. Paula is always seen with a smile on her face is very welcoming to new staff and works well with the interdisciplinary orthopedic team. The doctor PAs and her peers all respect Paula and value her input. Paula flexes her time to meet the needs of the department and always assists with CRL coverage. It is not uncommon to see her pick up a night shift to fill a staffing hole or be assisting on another unit that is busy. She is a true asset to the Hospital of Central CT and the community we serve. She is the definition of a DAISY Nurse Leader!!!

Paula Evelich works tirelessly for our unit staying late hours almost daily. She leaves the patients smiling and keeps the staff going with her support and positive outlook. She is a knowledgeable resource with her years of experience and a can-do attitude. Not only is Paula the glue that holds our unit together but she also supports the staff emotionally during this past most difficult year. She is one of the most inspiring, kind, and encouraging nurses to work with and the kind of nurse anyone would aspire to be.

As far as I'm concerned Paula runs the unit without her this unit would fall apart. She never leaves the day without making sure that we are all set. Paula is fair to everyone and does not encourage negativity. She treats the staff and patients like family. If anyone deserves this award it's Paula.

Paula is always so warm and welcoming to not only her patients but also all of her staff. During my time on E2/C4, I've seen her spend time with her floor patients every single day. She gets to know them on a personal level which makes them feel so special

I've been working at THOCC for almost 4 years and I can't imagine it without Paula. Paula goes above and beyond for everyone-- nursing staff, PAS, techs, and the patients. SHE EXEMPLIFIES THE MEANING OF WHAT A LEADER IS. SHE'S PASSIONATE about what she does. The only way to put it the best is that Paula is the heart of E2/C4.

Paula is one of the most inspiring, kind, and encouraging nurses I've ever met. Paula goes above and beyond not only for her patients but for her fellow staff as well. She is always the first to lend a hand and the last to leave she makes sure everyone is ok. Every new opportunity is a teaching opportunity for her and she freely shares her knowledge. She is one of the best people I've ever met and the kind of nurse I aspire to be.

Paula is a very large part of why E2/C4 is a wonderful place to work. She demonstrates a positive caring and supportive attitude toward staff and patients. She is always ready to help out, explain, or teach and has a relaxed way of doing this even under stress. She is a great resource of information and teaches in a way that gives confidence that makes you feel good. She also always checks with the staff to make sure are all okay and have everything we need.
