Mark quickly won my mother over with his humor, but more importantly he won our trust.
The ER is the last place I expected to be on a Wednesday morning with my mother. But, that is where we ended up after a fall. Mark quickly won my mother over with his humor, but more importantly he won our trust. My mom was confused, and not acting like herself after the tele-neurologist ruled out a stroke, Mark didn't give up. He treated her like he would treat his mother and insisted someone dig deeper to find the cause of her symptoms. We easily could have been dismissed but he encouraged mom to be honest about all of her symptoms. Based on that clearer picture, doctors were able to determine that she had actually had a heart attack that caused her "fall" instead of thinking she had just missed her chair. My sisters, brother, and I will forever be thankful for his persistence in the ER. He didn't dismiss even the slightest symptom which ultimately led to her diagnosis. She had a very scary day, made better by several caring nurses at CRH!
