I have known Kim Christian for 5 years and continue to be impressed with how she changes the lives of patients, families, and our staff members. As a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner, she focuses on improving the quality of life, relieving the stress and suffering of those we serve and so much more. I have worked with Kim through some especially challenging situations and have watched her adapt every time she meets a new family to become the support they need. She goes above and beyond for our patients and staff. I have been at a patient's bedside while she hand-fed them their lunch and cleaned spilled green beans from their gown while supporting them through planning the last days of life. I have watched her hold emotional family meetings and conduct conversations that nobody else wanted to have. She makes the hard phone calls and she advocates for patient and family needs. She is brave, she is confident and she is reliable and a pillar of strength and compassion that we rely so heavily on at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital. She routinely comes in on her days off to help her department and does not hesitate to jump in when needed. We are blessed to have Kim as part of our team.
