She leads by example and holds herself to an incredibly high standard, with the expectation that others will do the same. Jen has poured her heart, soul, and so much time into the emergency department and she deserves to know how much she is appreciated.
Jen is by far the greatest manager I have ever had the fortune of working for. Her continued compassion and empathy for patients are astounding. You know you can grab Jen to calm any unruly patient. More than that Jen is the advocate every nurse deserves. She is always willing to stand up for her team and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty helping her staff in any way possible, whether it's on the floor or with any other department. I know I aspire to be like her in any opportunity I have to be a leader.

Jen goes above and beyond as a manager unlike I’ve ever had before. She truly cares about her staff’s needs inside and outside of work. She makes it a priority to keep us well staffed and seeks ways to improve the ER environment for us. She comes and checks on us daily in our workspace and offers a hug and encouragement. I am grateful to serve under her as my manager. She is the most deserving of this Award for her humble attitude and diligent work ethic!

She absolutely deserves it!! She is always willing to drop what she is doing to help us or help patients. She has the magic touch of being able to calm down the most agitated/angry/anxious patients or family members even when other staff members have failed. She will go out of her way to make a patient feel seen and heard. I have seen her bring patients to the bathroom, tuck them back into bed, bring blankets for patients, and hunt down pillows. Jen is an incredible example of what nursing is all about.

She is a fearless leader. She always stands up for her employees. She shows compassion, and leadership and mentors younger nurses. She is easy to talk to, understanding on a personal level, and carries herself in a professional manner. Jen is able to advocate for what she believes is right. She is the best boss I have ever had. She handled the Covid crisis with ease and grace, never letting her own fears shine through. She’s truly a remarkable person and boss. I am honored to work for her!

She takes care of all of her employees like we are members of her family. By caring for us it helps us care for our patients. BY FAR the best manager I have had the pleasure of working with.

Jen always goes above and beyond for her coworkers. She somehow manages to be both an amazing boss and friend to everyone in the department. The compassion she shows for both patients and staff is incredible. Jen is a one-of-a-kind, invaluable asset to Saint Thomas midtown and the department is a much better place because of her support. She fights hard for what is right for both the patients and staff. Jen is a bright light in an often dark environment. She leads by example and holds herself to an incredibly high standard, with the expectation that others will do the same. Jen has poured her heart, soul, and so much time into the emergency department and she deserves to know how much she is appreciated. In the over 5 years that I have been at Saint Thomas, I have never heard anything but praises and kind words from everyone who has had the pleasure of working with her. She is a true DAISY Nurse Leader.

She shows she cares for her people and is a great leader because she listens.

I would love to nominate Jen because her leadership and guidance have helped me tremendously in my work environment. She has also been so kind to take time out of her day to point me in the correct direction when I needed things that had nothing to do with work. Great boss!!!

I wanted to give you even more reasons why Jen Wallace is a DAISY Nurse Leader. Jen is the most caring person I have ever met. She has an absolute heart of gold. If I ever encounter a situation in the ER where I have exhausted all options to help a patient, I'd call Jen and know she'd be there at the drop of a hat. She's incredible and every employee in the ER would agree. She's more than deserving of this award! Thank you!

There are no words for me to adequately express how amazing she is!! She goes above and beyond every day taking care of her associates and our ED patients. I frequently hear our team members saying that if she were to ever leave the ED there would be a mass exodus, as she is the reason they are still here. Throughout the pandemic, we are the only department, and I daresay only ED, that has not needed to hire a single traveler due to the loyalty of our staff to their leader, Jen Wallace. I truly think that says it all! We have also known her to go above and beyond with patients as well. For example, I know several times wherein she drove patients to the Greyhound bus station ( and paid for their tickets) so they could get back home to their families. One of these cases was a young woman who was identified as a human trafficking victim. Jen formed a trusting relationship with the patient and the patient's mother and kept in contact with both of them to ensure her safe return. Whenever a patient calls in with a complaint about their ED visit, Jen manages to win them over and they become BFF by the end of the call! She is magical and genuine and truly cares about everyone in need.
